Georg Tubalev, Exaud’s Managing Director, sat down with us to discuss his thoughts and insights on COVESA – a conference held in Oporto that brought together organizations from various parts of the world to collaboratively develop open standards and innovative technologies for connected vehicle systems.

What was your overall impression of the event?

The event left a great impression on me. I found it to be highly informative and well-organized, and it was a pleasure to connect with professionals from both the automotive and software industries. One of the most exciting trends I learned about was the concept of a ‘software defined vehicle’. I also want to extend a special thanks to Paul Boyes and Steve Crumb for their excellent moderation and friendly conversations.

What were some of the highlights or most memorable moments from this meeting for you?

For me, the highlights of the event were definitely related to the software segment. I was particularly excited about the Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS) and the ongoing standardization efforts that are finally gaining momentum. Additionally, I found Matus Banya’s and Peter Geffers’ journey from Cologne to Porto to be fascinating, as it illustrated the importance of developing a robust charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.

Did you have any takeaways or insights that you’ve implemented or plan to implement at Exaud?

Yes, I had several key takeaways from the conference that I have already started implementing or plan to incorporate at Exaud. Specifically, we are currently exploring the potential benefits of Google Automotive Services (GAS) and the Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS).

Would you recommend COVESA All Member Meeting to others?

I would highly recommend this event to any company operating in the automotive sector. It provides a fantastic opportunity to connect with others in the industry, learn about the latest trends and innovations, and network with like-minded professionals. Overall, it was a valuable experience that I believe others would benefit from as well.

Here’s some pictures from the event. Take a look!
