Introducing Our Team – Vítor Costa
Vítor joined is a former Exaud intern but we decided to keep him around! Get to know him! Posted onby ExaudEveryone, come meet Vítor! Vítor finished his internship with Exaud back in June and we invited him to stuck around. He officially changed careers and is now a Junior Software Developer.
Tell us a bit about yourself and why you became a developer.
I’m human, meaning that I’m good at some things and bad at others. I always
try to find humor in any situation, check if a joke is lurking around!
Sometimes I find myself a little bit inconvenient and I must self-reprimand,
but I believe I’m a cool person to be around (although, I usually let people
decide that for themselves).
Becoming a developer is a direct result from my degree in computer
engineering, something I pursued due to my interest in video games and
curiosity to ‘peek behind the curtain’ – understand what actually goes on on
behind my favorite titles and how they’re made. Besides that, I also needed
to change my career path and actually work on something I enjoy, something
challenging and rewarding.
You just wrapped up your internship with us! How was the experience?
The best I could possibly expect! I’ve put my knowledge to the test, honed
my skills and experienced the environment within a software development
organisation. All of that while also being able to meet, work and learn with
great people who welcomed me in the best way possible.
When you’re not coding what do you do for fun?
I’m usually playing video games: I have a knack for strategy games that take forever to complete but, no matter how long you stay away from them, they’re always fun to comeback to and continue. Either that or I’m playing with or teaching something my son.
Fun Facts:
If you and your kid were a superhero duo which one would you be?
Probably Cyborg and Beast Boy from Teen Titans Go! (animated) series, they’re a duo within the team, always goofing and messing around.
What’s the worst thing you did as a kid?
Probably that one time I almost set fire to my father’s cafeteria in the center of Oporto. I was 11 and it happened on São João’s eve. If it wasn’t for my father’s quick thinking and the customers present at the time, it would’ve probably spread to the historic center of the city. It would be epic and I would’ve been known to this day as the guy who set the city on fire (although that would be very bad).
If you could ask 3 questions to your pet, what would they be?
“Why did you pee on the carpet?” – This would be a good first one;
“Why do you make the effort to vomit on the carpet when we’re always
pushing you to a spot that is easier to clean?”
– she could be with her head in the toilet and still would find her way to
the carpet if she feels the need to “drop the cargo”.
“Why are you sitting on my chest? That’s a cat thing and you’re a
dog!”
– She does this every time I lay in the couch, usually blocking the TV
at the same time.
Finally, I know it was three but…
“Why won’t you calm down when I’m driving you somewhere?”
– she’s gets really anxious in the car, it doesn’t even have to be
moving and it doesn’t matter how long the trip is, 10 minutes or 3
hours, she’ll be crying the whole time…
(here’s the little carpet murderer!)
Working at Exaud is more than just a job. Want to come along for the ride? We’re always looking for great people to join us. Check our current openings on our Careers Page.
