Smart Home Technology
Smart Home Technology is the technology that allows the communication between with the objects at our home. One of the main goals of smart homes is to help us to save time by simplifying our daily tasks. Basically, this is possible thanks to IoT, the main component of home automation and smart homes.
With the support of the Internet, home automation allows us to control items around our place like the lights, the oven, security cameras, you name it. When we have all these facilities installed, we can start calling it a smart home. With just a remote control, our mobile phone, for instance, can remotely control all these smart gadgets.
A huge variety of smart home gadgets was launched during CES. Check some of the main examples below and see how this technology can improve your daily life:
1. Lenovo Smart Clock

better wake up according to your routine: control your home lights, play
your favorite playlist, check your schedule for the day, play podcasts,
there are infinite possibilities. Like other Google Assistant devices, you
can control the clock through your voice. It will be available in 2019
spring and will cost $80.
2. LG Oled TV R
Lg launched a new TV which, when its turn on, the door slides back and the screen slowly rises out of the box, unrolling and achieving its full height in seconds. There is also the option of leaving the TV partially extended to display moving ambient designs, photo galleries or just the weather and time. When playing music, the TV can be rolled back up and you can control the tracks via Bluetooth.
The TV runs the webOS 4.5 smart portals. It’s also compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa and has support for Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. The addition of AirPlay 2 lets you send video and audio from iTunes and other music and video apps via Apple devices, as well as music and video stored on iPhones, iPads, Macs, and PCs running iTunes.
3. Netatmo’s Smart Video Doorbell
Netatmo’s won a special attention during the event thanks to the launch of the first doorbell compatible with Apple HomeKit. Netatmo’s Smart Video Doorbell allows you to know who is in your front door using your mobile phone, with a 1080p Full HD camera with a 160-degree wide angle lens and HDR functions that adjust to sudden changes in light.
One of the differences from its competitors is the ability to set limit zones and receive a notification if someone breaks a limit. It also detects and sends notifications if someone tries to break or deactivate Netatmo.
Another curious feature is the fact that Smart Video Doorbell includes video storage, videos of calls received will be saved on an internal micro-Sd card. Netatmo’s security app is available on devices running iOS 10 and above, or Android 5.0 and above.
