Introducing Our Team – Meet Pedro Mota
Pedro Mota joined Exaud as an intern and quickly conquered his spot as a Junior Software Developer. Here’s your chance to meet him! Posted onby ExaudPlease welcome Pedro to our team! Pedro isn’t actually ‘new’ to us: he did his academic internship with Exaud and we were so well impressed with his coding and board games skills that we really had to keep him! Learn more about him in this interview!
Tell us a bit about yourself and why you became a developer.
I wasn’t always a computer geek but, recently, I got into game oriented
hobbies and started enjoying more the world around game development, not
only for computers but also smartphones. I guess having family members
working in IT played out as a boost, as the only thing we talk about is the
new technologies coming up in the future, while everyone else at the dining
table just talks about the pandemic.
You just wrapped up your internship with us! How was the experience?
When I joined Exaud as an intern, I was welcomed by the team as if I was
already part of it, and they always treated me with respect and made me have
an excellent experience. Even colleagues that weren’t working as internship
supervisors would always be able to help with all the problems that would
come up during my project.
I’m glad I became part of the team and hope I can be impactful in the future
projects as a Junior Software Developer.
When you’re not coding what do you do for fun?
I play videogames. Since the first lockdown, all I do is to explore all
kinds of games out there with my younger brother. That and being beaten up
by him on basketball, but let’s not talk about it.
I’m a cinephile too. I like to try out all types of movies and tv-shows and
find them very interesting and funny, even if they’re not that
good.
Fun Facts:
Would you consider cereal soup? Please elaborate.
I would say all the soups are normally served hot, so either you eat cereal
with hot milk (yikes) or it’s not a soup – at least I don’t perceive it as
such if I stick to this concept. But I guess people that microwave cereal
call it a soup, am I wrong?
What celebrity would you most like to switch lives with for a day?
If I could be someone for a day and totally incorporate their day-to-day
and career, I would definitely choose someone from the music industry. My
first choice would be Yo-Yo-Ma. I saw him once when I was a kid, and he
really was an inspiration to me and the other kids to play, not only cello
but other string instruments, by pouring your heart out every time you play
a music sheet. This mindset could be applied to all kinds of context, music
related or not, so spending a day as a musician like him, would mean playing
a 3 hour concert to a full opera house and actually feel what it is like to
wrap up such an intense concert.
How would you defeat Batman?
If I’m not mistaken Batman has no super powers, right? Anyway, he’s strong,
fast and has a nice car. I can’t win against that. There are some
interesting things about him that I could use to mock him – that would
hopefully bring him down. A particular thing about Batman, is that he hates
to lose so I would beat him in a ping-pong (best of 3) match.
