Introducing Our Team: Meet Pedro Teixeira

We believe it is important for you to know our team so during the last year we have been introducing some of Exaud’s faces. Today, we present you Pedro Teixeira, one of our senior Android Developers. Get to know him.

For how long have you been a developer?

I have been working as a programmer for five years. Before, I used to work as an informatics trainer – I did that for about eight years.

Why did you choose programing? Tell us a bit about your journey.

The main reason why I decided to become a programmer is because I like challenges and new things. I don’t see myself doing the same thing every day for the rest of my life. During college, while I was doing my Computer Science degree, I also taught computer lessons. I continued to teach, after having finished the course but I started to feel that that was not enough for me. Plus, the conditions to work as a computer educator were not really good and there were fewer people interested in this type of courses.
After 8 years of teaching informatics, I decided that I wanted a new professional challenge, so I gave up teaching and became a programmer.

What do you think will be the biggest trend/news in Android in 2018?

In terms of technology, I believe that AR/VR and AI will become an important feature to mobile during the next years. To developers, Kotlin Programming Language is available since 2016 and it has been growing since 2017. I believe that during this year it will expand really fast.

In terms of technology, can you tell me a bit about the project you’re working on?

I have been working on the integration of a new gadget that is going to be available soon. I have also been doing some maintenance work, particularly for an app that allows you to digitalize various forms and orders.

Which of your strengths is the greatest?

I think that being persistent without being obsessed and always trying to reach my goals. When I can’t find the solution to some specific problem, I always try not to give up and do my best to find the answer.

Maybe, to continue to work on this. I like what I do right now. Do I see myself working as a developer for the rest of my life? Maybe not, but I hope I can improve and then, in the future, perhaps I will be doing some management work in this area.
