Exaud goes to WeAreDevelopers World Congress ’22
If you’re wondering if you should visit WAV’s next edition, here’s our team’s feedback. And for the record, we want to go back! Posted onby ExaudDon’t get too surprised to see us making up for the all the lost IT industry related events we missed for the last two years! This time, we flew to Germany for we WeAreDevelopers World Congress to learn all about the latest tech insights, best practices and future trends.
After spending two days with access to one of the best congress programs we’ve ever laid eyes on, we’re happy to share the opinion of the three lucky devs that traveled to Berlin for all sorts of talks and workshops!
‘WAD World Congress was an amazing conference for me. I had the chance to get exposure to the Blockchain developer community. Not only how blockchain is being used by other industries such as supply chain/logistics, but also for individuals to become more empowered on their data, in terms of trust, ownership and interoperability. I also enjoyed the dedication of some related organizations, which provide fast track learning and mentoring for platforms such as Tezos, Polkadot or Bitcoin SV in the talks and the engagement with the convention goers. I also learned about lots of new paradigms of AI and ML usage patterns, now that the tech has become so intricate with real use cases, both specific and at scale, and that we can already extract some very hard data to extrapolate on its future use. And I can’t go without mentioning the great organization, my amazing peers at the conference who all had a great time and also allowed us to have a great time together, and the amazing city and venue in Berlin where this huge and diverse conference took place!’ – Tiago Borba, Senior Software Developer
‘For my first conference attendance, this was a great one to begin with. I
got to see a lot of interesting topics about technologies that I use daily,
and some that I might use in the future, while managing to hear about new
developing ones.
The possibility to also see a lot of the people that created the
technologies that we use today, and the process behind its’ creation, such
as C++, CSS, GitHub and more, was enlightening and very interesting.
All in all, very good conference and also great host city!’ –
Rafael Monteiro, Software Developer
‘We are developers ’22 was an amazing experience. The scale of the event
was simply overwhelming – with 12 stages and multiple eye- catching talks
happening at same time, electing the “best” one to attend became a
challenge. My attention was focused on backend technologies &
architecture, with an open mind for any other topics. This approach made me
attend a talk about atomic design that advocates how to build large scale
frontend applications with reusable UI components. Nowadays monitoring &
observability is essential to keep track of service status, collect metrics
and actively debug a software system – in that regard open telemetry
proposes a standard that “democratizes your application’s metrics, logs and
traces, releases you from vendor exclusivity” – this approach, in the near
future, will enable the ability to create a concise layer for monitoring
without being tied to a proprietary solution on the infrastructure. AWS
proposes a new paradigm for infrastructure provisioning that moves away from
terraform & YAML files, put simple AWS Cloud development Kit (CDK) is an
SDK that allows developers to “code the infrastructure” using the devs
language of choice (JS, Java, Python). As the big advantage, the dev does
not need to declare all the required resources (AZs, subnets, security
groups and so on…), and can rely on the defaults provided by the tool –
while I don’t feed particularly enthusiastic about CDK, coupling it with
CDKtf can ease a lot of pain when creating a new infra for a new project.
There’a a lot more to mention, for example, Porsche provided good teachings
on how they managed to migrate a myriad of backend solutions to a single
interface between mobile apps and multiple backend services. Still in the
automotive industry, Seat provided an insight of the design and architecture
process and decision needed to build an all-in-one Mobility Platform. I was
exposed to a lot more subjects on those 2 intensive days, worthy mentions to
the talks about Open search, Rimac’s observability platform, security
pitfalls and “One-click-to-production: Test and automate your
application”.
WAD is definitely a must go for any developer! –
Pedro Teixeira, Senior Software Developer
With such positive reviews, it’s safe to say we want to be part of the next edition. We hope to see WAD World Congress in 2023!
